MacVoices #735 - MacVoices at Expo: Adam Fingerman of Roxio Introduces the New Features of Toast 8
Posted by Chuck on January 29th, 2007

Adam Fingerman of Roxio introduced us to the new, cool features in Toast 8. You might think that everything that could be done with disc burning has been done, and you would be wrong. Toast 8 includes new capabilities to extract recorded programs from your TiVo and process them for burning and/or transfer to your iPod. Backup capabilities have also been enhanced to support spanning across several CDs and DVDs so that your large audio and video projects can be archived with confidence. For music enthusiasts, Toast 8 includes cross-fades and DVD audio to give you even more options for enjoying your music in different ways. The new edition also solves another problem for those who archive lots of content or information to CD or DVD: automatic cataloging, so you don’t have to wonder where that particular file, photo or music track is backed up.

I recently purchased Toast Titanium 8 for the specific purpose of duplicating slideshows from the original DVDs made on my G5, using iPhoto and iDVD. I have tried, in vain, to duplicate these slideshows with Toast 8. All of the reviews I’ve read, and I researched this carefully, raved about the ease of copying personal DVDs. Now I’m stuck with a piece of software that doesn’t seem to produce, as advertised. Calls to product support have not been successful. They claim that my original DVDs are are at fault. If so, why do they play on my TV with no difficulty? I need help.
