Gordon Bell, the General Manager for JoeSoft talks about the release of Hear, their digital signal processing utility that makes all the sound coming out of your Mac better. Music, movies, television, video games…they all sound better with Hear. Gordon talks about how Hear benefits from the experience of an Emmy-nominated sound professional and gives presets that will automatically make your speakers or headphones sound better, regardless of how good they are to start with. If would do the adjustments yourself, Hear provides an extensive set of controls and settings. Gordon also talks about competitive upgrade options, why some programs like Hear are better as stand-alone applications rather than plug-ins to iTunes, and how the support philosophy of Joesoft (and Prosoft Engineering) are different from many others in the industry.

If that was all, the ATV Flash would be a great product, but it also adds native web browsing so you can watch virtually any video web site on your big screen, including Hulu, ABC.com and more. James discusses the ease of installation, provides some background on how the ATV Flash works its magic, and covers other ATV Flash features, including tracking live weather, RSS feeds and more.

Toast now also includes support for both TiVo Series 2 and Series 3 units, giving users the ability to share recorded content via DVD and more. MacVoices‘ host Chuck Joiner is launching a new show: The MacJury, and the first show is being included on the MacVoices’ site and in the newsfeeds to help introduce listeners to the latest program for Mac news and entertainment. Each show will feature a different panel of personalities from the Mac universe in a freewheeling discussion that will interest Mac users of all levels.

The very first MacJury empaneled consists of some of the members of MacLevelTen, discussing the rise (or not) of Blu-Ray and how it affects Mac users. Will it solve all your storage problems, prove to be just a stop-gap technology, or be leapfrogged by faster bandwidth as a video delivery medium? The jury members then take on the Apple TV, what it brings to the table beyond movie rentals, and what needs to be added to make it a true killer product. Why there is a trend toward in-person tech conferences, why podcasts and social media may be helping drive that trend, and the dynamics of Twitter are all entered into evidence in the first show.
