Christian Rueb of equinux provides an overview of their new video hardware/software combination, the TubeStick hybrid and The Tube. equinux has taken a different approach to capturing and using broadcast video on your Mac, building in unique capabilities to enhance the experience. Sure, you can record and take your programs with you on your iPod or iPhone, but that’s just the start. The Tube includes a social network component where you can connect with others watching what you watch, a way to publish your recordings to a podcast feed so you can access them when you’re away from your Mac, and much more. James Abeler of Apple Core LLC introduces the ATV Flash. With the ATV Flash installed, your Apple TV supports a whole host of new video file formats, including AVI, DivX and Xvid. If that was all, the ATV Flash would be a great product, but it also adds native web browsing so you can watch virtually any video web site on your big screen, including Hulu, ABC.com and more. James discusses the ease of installation, provides some background on how the ATV Flash works its magic, and covers other ATV Flash features, including tracking live weather, RSS feeds and more.

Patrick Nugent, Product Manager for Toast 9 Titanium from Roxio provides a tour of the latest enhancements to the industry-standard disc burning utility. Patrick explains the differences in the flavors of Toast, and covers in detail the new Blu-Ray support for both data and video, including the capability to share Blu-Ray content on DVD media. Toast now also includes support for both TiVo Series 2 and Series 3 units, giving users the ability to share recorded content via DVD and more. Video streaming has also been added to Toast, and Patrick talks about how you can now view your video from across the room or across the Internet from your Tivo or your Mac.
