How this is implemented and why it is so important are covered in depth, as is the other new killer feature, conversion of web pages to PDF documents. You won&#8217;t appreciate how useful and sophisticated this is until you hear the group explain how it works and how much control you have to download not just a page, but links and content as well. A live demo is even done during the show, much to everyone&#8217;s surprise, so you can hear how long it takes and what you get out of it. The Smile crew review other changes to this version of PDF Pen, how the upgrades work, and how another of their products, <a title="TextExpander" href="http://redirectingat.com?id=8571X674225&xs=1&url=http%3A%2F%2Fsmilesoftware.com%2FTextExpander%2Findex.html&sref=rss" target="_blank">TextExpander</a>, is fast evolving into a platform of its own for handling text on the Mac, iPad, iPhone and iPod touch.<span id="more-1545"></span></p>

<itunes:summary>Smile Software (formerly SmileOnMyMac) is at it again, upgrading one of their wildly useful tools with even more new and cool features. Jean MacDonald, Philip Goward and Greg Scown join us to talk about PDF Pen 5, New to this version is redacting of PDFs...real redacting, not just cosmetic graphic placement that can reveal confidential information. How this is implemented and why it is so important are covered in depth, as is the other new killer feature, conversion of web pages to PDF documents. You won't appreciate how useful and sophisticated this is until you hear the group explain how it works and how much control you have to download not just a page, but links and content as well. A live demo is even done during the show, much to everyone's surprise, so you can hear how long it takes and what you get out of it. The Smile crew review other changes to this version of PDF Pen, how the upgrades work, and how another of their products, TextExpander, is fast evolving into a platform of its own for handling text on the Mac, iPad, iPhone and iPod touch.

<itunes:summary>Jeff Carlson has been busy, and joins us to talk about his two latest books, Photoshop Elements 8 for Mac OS X: Visual QuickStart Guide and Photoshop Elements 8 for Windows: Visual QuickStart Guide, as well as his upcoming book, Canon PowerShot G10 / G11: From Snapshots to Great Shots, all from Peachpit. Jeff covers some of the almost-magical features included in Elements 8 that tap the full power of Photoshop, but with a much simpler interface. Find out how Recomposing, Cleaning, Effects and more can help you get more out of your photos. Then, Jeff previews his new project, and offers you the opportunity to be part of it, just by taking some pictures.

<itunes:summary>SmileOnMyMac has released the newest version of DiscLabel, and Philip Goward and Brian Bucknam join us to talk about the upgrade. How much more can you do to a disc labeling program? Quite a bit, actually. Philip and Brian discuss the revision to the interface that brings it into line with the Apple iLife metaphors, improved importing capabilities, and the simplified workflow that lets users create all parts of a labeling project. Keeping up with revisions to the Mac OS, the opportunities and challenges that presents, and making sophisticated features easily accessible are all part of the discussion of the new DiscLabel 6.
