The Final Cut Pro User Group SuperMeet brand is going global. Event organizer Michael Horton talks about the upcoming SuperMeet that will be held in Amsterdam, in conjunction with the IAB Conference. Mike discusses why he decided to expand the event beyond the two wildly successful iterations at Macworld Conference & Expo in San Francisco and the NAB Show in Las Vegas and how he is making it a destination event for filmmakers and video enthusiasts from Europe, the Middle East and beyond. Mike discusses some of the challenges associated with bringing the event up to speed, how he’s addressed some, why some won’t be addressed, and how long-time sponsors are stepping up to help make this event possible.

John Grzeskowiak of RadTech and independent Mac developer Boris Klaydman, host of CocoaCast, are in San Francisco for Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference, and report in after a day that included attending Steve Jobs’ keynote and interacting with peers and Apple representatives. While much of what goes on at WWDC is conducted under NDA, John and Boris share what they can, including their reactions to the iPhone 2.0 and MobileMe announcements.

Mike discusses why neither Aople nor Avid will exhibit, and why he and his fellow-organizers decided to go ahead with the SuperMeet anyway. There is no agenda set for the event; Mike explains why representative of how they are approaching this year’s event, how Apple is integral to this event in spite of their lack of show floor presence and why the prices of SuperMeet sponsorship went down (and no, it wasn’t due to desperation).
